| Program Descriptions:
These programs provide educational support to Dakota County Juvenile Corrections located at the Juvenile Services Center in Hastings. Youth offenders are court ordered to attend and are provided with appropriate educational services. Educational services include educational screening and implementation of special educational plans. High school courses leading toward graduation and transition services for students returning to home schools or other settings are part of the services at Juvenile Services Center.
Model of Service Delivery:
Riverside School offers year around education to those students have been court ordered to attend. Students who attend Riverside School may belong to one of several different programs as determined by Dakota County: long-term program for students who have been sentenced for a stay longer than 90 days, short-term treatment program for students who have been sentenced for 15-90 days or detention for students who are being detained for a short or intermittent period of time.
The New Chance Program is designed to target juvenile offenders who would otherwise be placed in a residential facility. The New Chance Program offers intensive educational programming in coordination with services provided by Dakota County Corrections Staff.
Services Provided:
Related and support services in the areas of speech and language pathology, occupational therapy, autism and mental health are provided as needed.
